Vintage Conditions:
Winter rainfalls were slightly below average for the Barossa and Clare Valleys and this lead into a dry Spring and Summer. Heat spikes in January preceded a warm and dry harvest period however temperatures rarely exceed the low 30’s. Diligent vineyard management and strong vine architecture allowed fruit to achieve desirable sugar and flavour levels with very low disease pressure.
Tasting note from the winemakers:
Appearance: Deep crimson red with purple hues.
Bouquet: Bright, lifted, dark cherry, raspberry with liquorice, dark chocolate and vanillin.
Palate: A dense and vibrant wine of red and blackberry fruit flavours with hints of aniseed, mocha and dark chocolate. Fine tannins and soft acid balance provide a long and elegant finish.
Food Pairing: Cantonese Braised Brisket
